Outdoor Voices Size Chart

Everything sold here runs on alpha sizing — women's XXS–XXXL with US dress numbers attached, men's XXS–XXXL, bras XS–XL, socks S/M–L/XL. All measurements are body measurements in inches, with centimetres underneath.

Women's Size Chart XXS – XXXL

One run of sizes covers tops, tanks, tees, sweats, leggings, shorts and dresses. Measure your body, not a garment, and keep the tape level and snug — not cinched. If you land between two sizes, the chest and waist columns break the tie.

Body Measurements — Inches / Centimetres
Size US Dressnumeric Chestin / cm Waistin / cm Hipsin / cm
XXS 00 – 0 29 – 3174 – 79 22 – 2456 – 61 31½ – 33½80 – 85
XS 0 – 2 31 – 3379 – 84 24 – 2661 – 66 33½ – 35½85 – 90
S 4 – 6 33 – 3584 – 89 26 – 2866 – 71 35½ – 37½90 – 95

Dress & Bodysuit Torso XS – XL

Torso is the one extra measurement the brand lists for its Exercise Dress, Club Dress, Warmup Dress and other built-in-bodysuit styles. It is published for XS through XL only — above XL, fit the chest and hips and let the adjustable straps take up the rest.

Torso Length — Shoulder to Crotch
Size XS S M L XL
Torsoin / cm 56 – 58142 – 147 58½ – 60½149 – 154 61 – 63155 – 160 63½ – 65½161 – 166 66 – 68168 – 173

Dress numbers overlap on purpose

The numeric column is a mapping, not a range test: XS reads 0–2 and S reads 4–6, but L starts at 10 while XL starts at 14, so neighbouring blocks share a number. Trust chest, waist and hips first, then use the dress number as a sanity check against what you already own.

Compression runs snugger

Textured Compression and TechSweat pieces are built to hold you in and feel tighter out of the bag than CloudKnit or Bubble Wrap. Same body, same alpha size — but if you are between sizes and want an easy feel, take the larger in compression styles.

Sports Bras XS – XL

Bras are sold in the same alpha sizes as the rest of the women's line — there is no band-and-cup system, and no D-cup conversion. Match your chest measurement, then use the waist and dress columns as a cross-check. Bras run XS–XL only; XXS and XXL+ are not produced in this category.

Body Measurements — Inches / Centimetres
Bra Size Chestin / cm Waistin / cm US Dressnumeric
XS 31 – 3379 – 84 24 – 2661 – 66 0 – 2
S 33 – 3584 – 89 26 – 2866 – 71 4 – 6
M 35 – 3789 – 94 28 – 3071 – 76 8 – 10
L 37 – 39½94 – 100 30 – 32½76 – 83 10 – 12
XL 39½ – 42100 – 107 32½ – 3583 – 89 14 – 16

Support by Style

Every bra in the range uses the same XS–XL run, so the style matters more than the number. What changes between them is support level, fabric and how much stretch the band has.

Bra Families — What to Expect
Style Support Fabric Fit Note
Doing Things Bra Medium TechSweat Removable pads, honeycomb mesh back, firm bottom band. The closest thing to a do-everything bra — wear your usual alpha size.
Double Time Bra Low Textured Compression Snug double-scoop cut that the brand flags as running small. Size up one.
Solar Bra Medium Bubble Wrap Soft elastic band and adjustable straps, so it forgives a little more than the compression styles.

Between two bra sizes?

Go up. A bra that is slightly loose in the band still supports; one that is tight in the cup flattens and digs. Adjustable straps help with length, never with cup volume.

Fuller cups

These bras are cut with A–C cups in mind, and reviewer feedback backs that up — D and DD customers regularly report needing to size up or choosing a style with adjustable straps. If you are above a C cup, order two sizes and return the one that does not sit flat.

Men's Size Chart XXS – XXXL

Tees, shortsleeves, fleece, windbreakers, shorts and pants all share this run. Measurements are body measurements taken over light clothing; the chest column decides tops, the waist column decides bottoms.

Men's Inseams Pant & Short

Shorts carry one fixed inseam in every size — the number in the style name is the number you get. Pants are the exception: the RecTrek Pant lengthens half an inch per size from XS to XL, and the brand does not publish inseams for XXS, XXL or XXXL.

Inseam by Size — Inches / Centimetres
Size RecTrek Pantin / cm RecTrek Shortin / cm
XXS — 5 or 713 / 18
XS 2871 5 or 713 / 18
S 28½72 5 or 713 / 18
M 2974 5 or 713 / 18
L 29½75 5 or 713 / 18
XL 3076 5 or 713 / 18
XXL — 5 or 713 / 18
XXXL — 5 or 713 / 18

Two fits, one chart

RecTrek shorts and the windbreaker sit close and classic; MegaFleece and the CloudKnit shortsleeve are deliberately roomy. Same measurements, very different result — read the fit word in the product name before you size down.

Borrowing from the men's rail

Men's CloudKnit pieces are cut true to size for men and read oversized on women. If you want a normal fit rather than a borrowed-one, order one size below your usual men's size.

Women's Bottoms — Published Lengths Leggings & Shorts

Bottoms use the same waist and hip columns as the women's chart; what separates one style from the next is length, not circumference. The brand publishes a single inseam per style rather than an inseam per size — so pick your size from waist and hips, then pick your length here.

Inseam by Length — Inches / Centimetres
Length Inseamin / cm Where It Lands Typical Styles
Full length 2871 At the ankle bone Standard full-length leggings
7/8 length 2666 Just above the ankle bone Core 7/8 Legging, Puddle Legging
Capri 1743 Below the knee, mid-calf Puddle Capri
Short 3½9 Mid-thigh, higher RecTrek Short
Short short 2½6 Upper thigh Hudson Short, Warmup Skort

Rise & Waistband

Height of the waistband changes the fit as much as the size does — a high-rise pair sits at the natural waist, a mid-rise pair sits an inch or two lower and reads shorter in the leg.

High rise

Leggings, the Puddle family, the Warmup Skort and most of the TechSweat line sit at or above the navel. If you are long in the torso, take your waist measurement at the navel rather than at the narrowest point.

Mid rise

RecTrek shorts and pants sit below the navel. Measure where the waistband will actually rest, and expect the same alpha size to feel looser here than in a high-rise legging.

Shorter frames

There is no petite or tall line. Because the 7/8 length stops at 26 inches, it frequently reads as a full-length legging on frames under about 5 ft 4 in — a useful trick if the 28-inch full length pools at the ankle.

Lighter colours show stretch

Any knit turns sheer once it is stretched past its intended range, and light colourways show it first. If your hip sits at the very top of a size band, take the next size up in white, bone or pale pastels.

How to Measure

Five measurements cover the entire range. Use a soft tape, stand relaxed, breathe out before you read the number, and keep the tape parallel to the floor.

Chest / Bust

Run the tape around the fullest part of the chest, under the arms and across the shoulder blades. Keep your arms down and the tape flat against your back.

Waist

Find the narrowest point of your torso, usually just above the navel. Do not suck in — the tape should touch your skin without denting it.

Hips

Measure around the widest part of the seat, roughly 7 to 8 inches below the waist. Keep your feet together so the measurement is not exaggerated.

Torso

For dresses and bodysuits: from the top of the shoulder, down the front, through the crotch and back up to the same shoulder. This is the number the XS–XL torso table uses.

Inseam

Stand barefoot and measure from the crotch seam straight down the inside of the leg to the ankle bone. Compare it against the length table rather than guessing from your height.

Fit & Fabric Notes

Measurements, not vanity sizing

The charts are standard body measurements, but bodies are not. Every product page carries the same line about emailing the team for a more specific read — use it if you sit between two sizes in two different places.

Between sizes

Compression and support pieces: take the larger size. Oversized fleece and CloudKnit: take the smaller size. If one measurement points up and the other down, the chest wins for tops and the hips win for bottoms.

Sizing stops at the edges

Women's and men's apparel run XXS–XXXL, bras XS–XL, socks S/M–L/XL. Nothing in the line is numbered 0–20 in its own right — those numbers only appear as a conversion in the women's chart.

Socks in two sizes

S/M covers women's 7–9½ and men's 6–8½ shoe sizes. L/XL covers women's 10–12½ and men's 9–11½. Crew, ankle and no-show styles all use the same two bands.

Care & Returns

  • Wash: machine wash cold, on its own or with like colours. Skip the fabric softener — it coats the stretch fibres.
  • Dry: tumble dry low, or hang the compression pieces to keep the elastic lively for longer.
  • Never: bleach, iron or dry clean. Heat is what dulls the sweat-wicking finish.
  • Returns: unworn, unwashed and with tags, within 30 days of delivery. Final sale items cannot be returned or exchanged; even exchanges are free.
  • Before you order: check the fit word in the product title — relaxed, oversized, classic, snug. It tells you more about the size you need than the chart alone does.
The short version: pick your size from chest, waist and hips — then pick your length from the inseam table.
